I was looking at one, and saw that that combined with a 280w Triggerman cab was less than a $400 Fender Jr. Is it worth it for my situation? (I know this topic came up in another thread on the first page, but I thought I'd see what replies I got here)

This negatively affected my tone in ways that I just can't describe.
Then, on a whim, a few years ago I wandered into a Bath and Body Works store at a local mall and picked up some of their gentle foaming anti-bacterial hand cleansers.
The difference in my guitar's sound is so wickedly improved that I no longer feel the need to buy a new amp or pedals or even strings...EVER!
So, it's my belief that tone is in the soap.
Thank you and goodnight.

First, I wouldn't pay more than $300 for a Blues Jr...but that's just me.

Whether or not the Valve Jr. head will have enough gain for you through that cab will be up to your ears. The primary concern I've heard from users of the Valve Jr. is that there isn't a ton of headroom. As far as volume goes, I don't have much personal experience on how it does in a band situation.

Actually, the only time I played a VJ was through a 4x12, and I could get anay overdrive, really.

Last I used a Valve Jr. thru a 1x12 I cranked it up without making any real volume to my ears, so check how much volume you might need.

To n00bfan: Remember, you are wanting to do some "hardcore", by which I assume means post-hardcore/screamo/emo/whatevermo and you need a high gain amp for that stuff... Or at least a good versatile one.
