Mainline guitar cases

Has anyone seen, used, own or owned a Mainline hardshell case? It made out of plastic like SKB or Gator. I've been looking at a Gator case for $85, but the Mainline is $50 and saying that extra $35 would be nice. So any help would be great and also thanks for any help.

I don't know about Gator and Mainline, but I have an SKB and it is a great case. My strat doesn't move at all when it is inside.

It's hard to say...the online stores with them don't really have the best pictures of them. Just because they're both made from ABS plastic doesn't make them similar quality. I know that the difference between the $115 deluxe SKB case and the $95 SKB Freedom case is HUGE in terms of quality. I don't know if there's any local stores that carry Mainline cases, but if there were, I'd check them out in person...or at least be prepared to send it back to the online store if they have a satisfaction guarantee

I don't have any experience with Mainline, but I once had a Gator case. I got it because it was cheaper than SKB, etc. It was not as good. I can't say the plastic or protection was any worse, but the latches were not as good. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

Thats what sucks, I've not found any info on the internet. And the Gator I could swing but just would be a little tight. My dad suggested getting the Mainline them upgrading. The off the top of my head pros and cons are, the guitar isn't gonna see much travel so the case would protect the guitar just in the house, the con I'm shelling out an extra $50(+shipping). S in your opinion should I wait a week or two and get a SKB or Gator or buy now and save for an upgrade? Again thanks for any help.

I don't know too much about Mainline, but my TKL hardshell case has been worth every penny of the $80 I paid for it.

This is off topic, but did your TKL smell very bad when you first got it? My son just picked one up and it smells like vomit, no kidding!

My TKL I got for my Washburn I think it had an odd smell but not a vomit smell. I was gonna go with an Epiphone case which is made by TKL but I hadn't thoght to check to see how wide the guitar is. And I check and find out that it is an inch wider than the Epi case allows. So I know the Gator will fit and you have the Michael Kelly case. I'm gonna go with one of these. Sat I'm gonna check with my Michael Kelly dealer to see if they have one in stock or see how much they will charge for one. Has any one check out the Gator caese that look like the old Gibson cases that were brown with the magenta lineing. i really like that case better the the ABS Gator, well I've always like those cases myself.

I use an SKB Freedom case - No issues what so ever.

It does have a sweet smell though. Hard to describe. Weird, for sure.

Wait and get a nicer case. If you get a cheap case first, then upgrade to a nicer case you are going to end up spending the money for a nicer case + the money for the cheap case. So you see, you will save money in the long run by getting something better now.

I'm gonna go with either the Mickael Kelly Deuce case, the Gator ABS case or the Gator that looks like the old Gibson cases. I would consider the SKB but I don't want to go over $100. Plus I just really like that ugly brown and magenta(or the best way I've ever heard it said puke pink) case.

Yeah, I would definitely go with SKB. I have a friend that had a Taylor get lost in transit for several days and it literally went all over the world. I think I remember him saying something about Greenland. Anyways, when he finally got it back, the guitar was perfectly fine, but the case had been damaged. He called SKB to see if it would be worth it to send it in for repairs and the response was something along the lines of "It broke? That shouldn't happen. We'll pay for you to send it to us and we'll get a new case to you ASAP." He's been a solid SKB supporter ever since.
