As far as technical details, this is with the PODxt Live, direct ot the computer, a Mesa Boogie Mark IV model, with a tube screamer in front, some chorus and delay.
Very Nice! I like your style. You don't have just good tone; you have some talent!

This is my 2nd time trying to improvise ever.. I just started going through scales and keys and stuff.

Anyway, here it is with the Ballad backing track. Only used 1 scale.

Nice work. Great tone.

Basic melody is there. Nothing unpleasing about it. Some quality issues with the recording, but I think you already know that.

I'm pretty sure I used my Tele for this one and probably the Tweed and 1x12 settings on the Genesis 1.
I honestly remembered that from the last time we did this. It's excellent work. I hope someday my chops will be so righteous.

Great stuff. I think we must have some similar influences, although I think you're chops are quite a bit cleaner than mine.

And now for my attempt at the Nu Metal track. Some spots of it I really like. Then there are some disjointed spots. Maybe I can smooth it out some in the next try.

Thanks. I'm lovin' the sound from my Pod xtl!

Nice stuff. The metal track is probably going to be the hardest for me, since it's just begging for fast stuff. And if I try to go too fast, I get sloppy.

Anyway, I'm going to edit my track a bit. It sounds so tight with more reverb. Except for the fact that Kristal is being stupid to me.

Better than me, fast or slow I'm always sloppy.

*edit*
I gave the blues a whirl. Unfortunately I don't sound as good as Dave.

Very nice. I liked that a lot better than the nu-metal one you did but I think that's a matter of stylistic preference.

For more of that 80's ballad sound, here's the track verb'ed up.

I've been working on a post using the funk backing track...but for some reason audacity is being wierd, it gets scratchy in parts and then skips like a scratched lp on a bad turntable. Has anyone else ever had this problem w/ audacity? Here's the clip, it sounds out of tune and out of time...if anyone has ever had this problem before and knows the solution I'd greatly appreciate it.

No, my playing is just better on the blues track. I don't have very much experience in the metal area.

To me, all metal sounds pretty terrible, so I wouldn't know if someone were playing it well or not.

Here are my two quick goes at it. I did these pretty quick so they are not very good, but yet again I am not really one to solo, so dont' expect much,

Here's my take on the "Funk" backing. It's a fun chord progression to play over.

FYI: this was played using my new $110 Squier Strat run through the Genesis 1 w/ Boutique/Blonde 2x12 settings.

Further proof that tone equals fingers.

I interpret that as further proof that tone is in the amp/modeler.

After listening to multiple clips you've recorded with the Genesis, Dave, I can definitely hear an almost identical tone throughout them all.

1. That's how narrow-minded that particular modeler is. It may be time for a replacement.
2. I'll bet you that if I miked a tube amp and recorded it, you'd still hear a somewhat similar sound to the Genesis.

It's in the fingers.

I like it dave, you've got a lot of sweet chops and a great take on the song.

reminds me of Tim Pierce
