Good classical guitar instruction book

Hello, I am trying to look for a good book to learn the classical guitar. I've been playing the acoustic guitar for about 6 years and I've been serving in the worship ministry in our church. I love the sound of the classical guitar and I want to find a good book about it.

I believe this is classical (though I just may be wrong), but the Berkley books (from Berkley college, I assume) are good books. And as you are more advaced, the first book should be easy.

Yeah, one of my friends who's a darn good classical player swears by his materials, so I'd say go for that. I really should get some of Parkening's books.

My teacher has me going through Mel Bay's "Complete Carcassi Guitar Method" right now. I like it, so I'll throw the recommendation for that out there as well.

+1.

This is the book that I teach out of and it's phenomenal. The only thing I don't really dig is the first few pages. Glance over them to get an idea of the concepts but then move on to page 30 or so. It's a really good book. I also got a book called "Wedding for Guitar" and started playing out of it. It's all the typical wedding songs laid out for guitar.

Find a book that will teach you the basics (chris parkening) and then find some other books to challenge you and hold your interest. Like the wedding book mentioned, or there's a really great hanon book out there as well.
