I was forced to see it twice. My family made me go and then some peeps at a birthday party went and I was obligated to join. Pity me.
I didn't really like it. The acting was lame and worse, the script was awful. Aside from that, the use of color was disturbing and further, the music didn't really fit with the movie (aside from that, practically the whole movie could have been taken right out of LOTR.)
However, on the second viewing, it could be taken as a cute kids movie. Nothing more.
Everything I've heard and read about the book labelled it as pure cliche and the few pages I read pretty much confirmed it.
I agree, although I really enjoyed it. It's pretty much Star Wars in a LOTR setting. The movie, however, wouldn't have been very good even if it did follow the book.
