Definately seconded on the DeVille. I love mine.

The Hot Rod Deluxe is a fine amp, too . It's got some definite potential that I don't even know how to reach, or that it even exists

As for the "classic" Fenders, I've used a silverface Champ, a blackface Pro Reverb, and a silverfass Bassman 100 stack. All quite lovely amps, my favorite for my own music would be the Pro Reverb, beautiful tone...

Or, you could go the next step and get a Twin, Twin Reverb, Deluxe Reverb, Bassman or the Tweed - all the classic vintage amp tones. I don't think Crate has an answer to these.

Crate did have a "Vintage Club" series of tube amps, I think they morphed into the Palomino series. Crate might not have a Twin, but they're directly competing with some of the smaller amps.

I was just thinking of a comparable place in rock history. As far as I can remember (and that goes back a bit), many Fenders, few Crates.

Then again, lots of Twins; not many Hot Rods.

So true. Now, I'll go play my Rivera. Oh yeah, he used to work for Fender, didn't he?
