I agree with Laura that you don't want to compete with Christmas. My brother is getting married around Christmas and it effectively has upset everybody involved. Also, December is a busy month for guests and you will be competing for lots of events, and special getaways on the anniversary will be difficult.

I got married December 18. I thought it was a great time to get married. The Church that we got married in was already decorated for Christmas and so we didn't have to do much decorating for the wedding. Christmas is a holiday that most people spend with their family so with your family and her family, the anniversary may take a back seat at times. It isn't an issue with us, but it may be with you.
