I would have bought this in a heartbeat if I didn't already have the Chubster!

Here's an update on what I've been finding out.

This amp loves Strats (so far) and it has even quieted my G&L down significantly. Like I said earlier, the EQ knobs are very sensitive and I found out why. In trying my Digitech in front of the amp, I turned all the EQ knobs to 0 and got no volume at all, even though the volume and master volume knobs were up. This happened on both channels. When I set the EQ's at 5, the volume was there. So, the lesson learned there was to start at 5 and cut or boost as desired, but with moderation in changes, since there is also a change in volume. Does this make sense?

The noisegate in the Digitech became increasingly more sensitive in front of the amp, so I had to figure out a combination of input level from the Digitech, guitar volume and amp gain and master settings. I think I've gotten a good feel for this by now. The Digitech sounds great in front of the amp and I mic'd it the last couple of times out so I could capture the great bottom end produced by this amp's cab. It really has some great sounds and also makes me realize what a great preamp the Digitech is.

The next step is to run my pedals in front instead of the Digitech. I'm sure this will produce a different characteristic which I will report on later. What's really neat is this amp is so versatile and what I've thrown in front of it can sound really good. I'm doing a lot of tweaking and getting to know my new buddy. The quietness of this amp approaches some good digital and I love that! More to come later...

Further update.

This amp is way cool. It loves my pedals even more (or maybe the pedals love it). My Tonebone Classic is now really quiet and the Blues Driver sounds so sweet with it. Even my compressor is quieter. I'm so pleased with this amp - it's a keeper and a player. It was worth every penny and made me forget how much I liked my Digitech processor. It also makes me wonder how good the Knucklehead, Fandango and Quiana series really are. If you want Vox-like sounds, just boost up the mids and you're there. If you ever get the chance to get a Rivera, don't hesitate.

Keep practicing and get good like Doyle Dykes and they will make one just for you! I don't think they would have him pay for his signature Sedona, do you?
