Line six spider III

I went to the music store today, looking for something to get for christtmas. THis amp was recommended to me. I played through it, and liked the sound. It is a nice amp, and it seems to have what I am looking for. I am almost 100% on buying it, but I need to be sure that it isn't really just a piece of crap amp in disguise. What are your experiences with this particular amp? Please, all info would be helpful. Thanks, and God bless.

How long have you been playing guitar. It is a decent amp, but most will tell you just that: decent.

Most of the users here (including me) will tell you that you can get more amp for your money if you're willing to take a little time and do a little reasearch. There's a stickied thread at the top of the amps forum called "How to Buy an Amp." Read through it, and learn.

Most of all take your time, I promise you, there will always be a line 6 Spider III for you to get if you finally decide it's what you want. I made a mistake in purchasing my first amp (after the practice amp I first received when I first started guitar) thinking it was amazing. I surely did regret the decision later.

You might be able to get some good deals on a Spider II if you can find one. I think there are some minor changes in features on the Spider III but I don't think they are generational changes. Do you plan to use it live? You will need one of the Line 6 footboards if you do.

I am going to get the foot board if I get the amp. I really do like the amp, and I have tried it against some other amps of equal price at the stores around here, even some marshall amps of equal price, which it thoroughly pwn'd. I am on a limited budget, and I don't need something amazing, just something better than what I have. I only need one step up.

I got the Line 6 Flextone 212 and the short board. I am very happy with it. I used it for recording my bands EP the other day and it sounds nice!

I played with the idea of getting it, and found that the 1x12 75W amp sounded much better than the 2x12 150W version. I don't know why it made a difference, but the bigger amp fluffed out in the low end, was a bit muddy in the middle, and was bland in the highs. But that was just my impression of it. I ended up with a Fender HDR. I played through a Peavey 1x12 Valveking yesterday and was very pleased with how well balanced the sound was.
