The Valvestates aren't technically SS amps. They're singe tube pre-amp hybrids.

If you're looking for amazing cleans, then Acoustic is my recommendation, but for anything else, you need to look elsewhere unless you're ready to rely on distortion and OD pedals. Most of the renown Acoustics were single channel or two channel amps...neither channel was a dirt channel.

That being said, the early era Valvestates were supposed to be good, and the current AVTs aren't bad, but they're not amazing to me. Also, there's plenty of SS amps out there that will fit the bill of what you're looking for. I believe that Tech21 makes some pretty decent, versatile SS amps, as does Randall.

While I've owned Marshall Valvestates, if you're willing to spend the money, definitely get something better than them. They're good budget solutions, not so much great amps if you can spend $350.

I still reccomend the Peavey Ultra.
