linear recurrences

f(1) = 2090
f(4) = 1823
f(9) = 1218

I'm having a terribly hard time defining this function based on this... I need to find the input variable which gives the function a value of 0. If you give me an answer, give me a process as well, because I am quite lost on this one...

Ha! I found a graphing program that will approximate for me, but if this ever comes up on a test I'm ruined... if you know how to solve this, please give me a process.. thanks.
