I've flown a few times with my Taylor 410 and my MIM Telecaster. I didn't loosen the strings, but I did make sure to give plenty of support to the headstock and I secured the case with bright red duct tape so that if I had to check the guitars (on one flight, I was forced..err...asked to), I'd be able to see them immediately. Both guitars have survived their flights wonderfully. Their cases look a little worse for the wear, but that's what cases are for, right?

Which direction is really up, anyway???

I've flown with my guitars many times (post 9/11) and have never had a problem brining it as a carry on.
