Question Hey Mickey.... I've got a crazy idea....

Could you possibly add a midi..... or even better, a NoteWorthy Composer (a sequencer that produces notation and midi files.... and the free version is actually usable) section to the site????? I know we have many people here that would love to have some actual piano/keyboard sheet music that they could download...... and this would be a good way to do it. You could have midi files that include only the piano or keyboard parts, so people could load them into a sequencer and print sheet music out. Also, NWC files would be a great way to have downloadable sheet music files. Is there any way this would be possible??? If so, how many people would we have to have "tabbing" out songs??? I know I could help with quite a many songs. Anyway, it was just a thought I had..... tell me what you think.

Sounds pretty cool. I guess I just have a few questions:

-How big are the files that it produces?
-Anyone else out there that could submit songs? I personally would be of no help, since I don't play keyboard.

It would be very possible, and it fact rather easy to put up a section for it. Let's see what kind of interest people have in something like this and go from there. It could be pretty darn cool.

Mickey

Talking Hmmm...

Let's see...... the files range in size from 2 Kb to about 20-30 Kb for a really big file. About the number of people who could submit stuff....... that would depend on who was willing to do it. Anybody can download the program (I think it's like 700 Kb), and if you have any keyboard with midi, you can hook it up and record stuff. I'll start asking around to see who's interested.

Even 20-30K is practically nothing, so this could work pretty well. Let me know what kind of feedback you get from other people, and we'll go from there.

Well, I don't think i could help with it; I dunno how to "tab" piano (heck, I'm not even good at tabbing guitar), but I'm all for the idea. I think it'd be great to be able to get piano/keyboard music off the site.
Good idea KeyboardFreak!

Thumbs up Yeah! Midi!!!!!!!!!

Mickey,
I personally think that midi would be a great addition to the site. I personally use midi all the time in my church worship services. I would contribute tremendously!!!!!!!

You have my vote! On with MIDI!!!!!!!

WHAL,

Chris

Well, then let's do it. KeyboardFreak, send me whatever you've got (songs, and the software) and I'll post it. From there, hopefully it'll grow. Send the stuff to mickey@christianguitar.ws . Thanks!

IHL,
Mickey

Talking Ok.....

I don't have that many songs right now...... but I can do some more fairly often.... and we'll be getting a new computer soon, so I can actually hook this one up to my keyboard permanently.... so soon I will have bunches of time to record more stuff. Anyway, they'll be on their way in a little while... I think I might do one or two more songs first.

I've got the section built and running, but I haven't announced it to the world yet. The main reason is that we've only got three songs in it so far - I'm sure we can build that up fairly quickly. Here's a link to the section:

http://www.christianguitar.ws/keyboard/

Also, keep in mind one important thing when you're building more songs for this section. They follow the same rules as the guitar tabs - they must be your interpretation, and not copied directly out of a songbook.

If you finish another song, simply e-mail it to me at mickey@christianguitar.ws and I'll get it posted. Thanks!

IHL,
Mickey

I know this is an old thread, but when doing a search on here I got this one as one of my results and checked it out...

I could help out, I can play by ear to some extent(mainly with songs I've heard alot), and can figure out the notes for songs(usually a basic interpetation of the song, with melody in righthand\treble and arpeggios or chords in lefthand\bass). Not much, but I guess it's something... Alot of the songs I would send in would be more like popular modern praise and worship songs, or any song that is keyboard driven. After all, 4 songs in the database after a few months isn't enough, it needs to grow!

Actually, I think that PowerTab would sort of take care of it. Take a look and see what you think of it.

I dunno... all PowerTab looks like it does is show the sheet music for the chords right? Meaning all you gain is tempo and volume markings, how long to play a note, etc.(and all of that is good), and the ability to play it from sheet music even though it's still chords. And really, any keyboardist with even a little experience with playing chords would know what notes to play right off(unless it's some really weird, advanced chords) without needing to see that notes for each specific chord.

I'm not really musically skillful if you know what I mean...

But, anyone that knows the notes on the fretboard can change the "tabs" to "piano music", correct? Is that all we are trying to do?
