| Need to Get an amp My sister is getting a new amp for her boyfriend and she's asked me to help her find a decent one. Price range is about $300 but preferably less. He's using a Fender Strat of some sort. He plays a wide variety of styles but his main influence of style is something like Pillar or Day of Fire. He's sick of using a dinky little practice amp (I don't know what kind. Something cheap and crappy). Suggestions? |

If he is interested in used, I am getting the footswitch, and it should be a good match potentially in your budget.
Valvekings are made in china, and this is a USA made amp, just for what it might be worth...

| Sweet, you got a Triumph? I've tried one of those things out before, 'twas quite sweet.
The Triumph and Ultra are both from the same amp series and would do great. I saw an Ultra go for $250 once. |

| I didn't really read into it, so yeah, the amp seems to have some problems.

| depends on what kind of player they are. A Roland Cube 30 might be something they would like. It would depend.

I should have checked on the style of those bands although he did say for a wide variety of styles. Those are my favorite amps in that price range anyway. Would a Valveking or Triumph do clean sounds too. I don't know how wide a variety he plays. If he plays a very wide variety he could be better off with a modeling amp or processor. |

| Yeah, they have good clean channels. I prefer a sorta dirty clean, where an Ultra would do better than a Valveking, which only has a volume on the clean channel rather than a pre/post gain setup. |
