| rough tattoo design So a girl my wife works with is going to be getting a tattoo soon. Well, she wanted another guy they work with to design it but as he's a professional artist he felt he would have to charge her for designing it. And well, I thought about it and since I have designed tattoos before, I volunteered. And being that I'm as amateur as they get, I'll do it for free.
The design she wanted was a rose melting from an ice cube. I ran off a rough sketch of a couple of concepts last night and decided on the one I preferred. (luckily it was the concept the girl originally started with).
I just want to get everyone else's opinion on the design so far. It's nowhere near completed (and the rose itself is a really rough sketch). I was thinking of possibly making it wilt a little and having a petal or two falling off.
Any thoughts? suggestions?
EDIT: yes, I did invert the colours. It left the best view and I don't feel like playing with my webcam settings right now. I'll fix it next time.

| well, when ice melts, it dosen't always melt evenly, so try playing with the top of the ice a little.

| I think the idea of the image will work well, but you definitely need to refine the subject(s). For example, research on Google images what roses look like at different angles, and look at some other cartoony drawings of roses. As is, it looks a little too round, and there are possibly too many petals in there. It may be nice to include a little bit of the side of the flower instead of a birdseye view of the inside. Also, try spacing the two leaves out a bit.
Will the tattoo be in colour? Will it be just an outline, or will there be tones in there by using a dotting half-tone technique? |

And everything I drew there is completely contrary to everything my high school art teacher taught me about flowers. I just did it for the concept. Quote: |

| That all depends on how the person getting it wants it. I will be doing a few copies with different colours, some sense of shading and a basic outline.

| I really like the design of the rose but the ice cube needs to be changed a little I think. Maybe put some drops of water on the ice cube. As well, you know when you put a rose in water you get refraction of light which makes the stem appear not connected to the rose; you might get the same thing with ice cubes. |
