| I've been homeschooled my entire life. My Junior year (last year), I started taking some classes at community college. This year (Senior year), the majority of my classes are at the community college.

| I was public schooled from preeschool to second grade
Homeschooled from 2nd grade to 9th grade
primarily public schooled for high school (certain courses still took through homeschooling)
And now go to a public university.
There are pluses and minuses to each. What I would do with my children would entirely depend on the type of person they were, because I think the different methods are appropriate for different types of person.

| I went to private elementary/middle/high school and go to a public university now. I liked it. I know homeschoolers have a good time, but I liked my school enough to not want to be homeschooled.

| My wife and I went to public schools but our children are both homeschooled.
Our oldest daughter (now 15) finished the 2nd grade in public school but various circumstances that occured in just those first 2 years showed us that both she and we had experienced enough nonsense and she has been homeschooled since the start of 3rd grade.
My opinion is that there are many factors that determine the quality of education in any situation and for us the positive factors of homeschooling far outweigh whatever negatives there might be, if any. |

| I always went to public school.
Halfway through last year, my wife was very unhappy with how some things were being taught in our 9 year old daughter's school, so she decided she wanted to try home schooling. So, she finished last year with home schooling and is doing this year at homeschooling.. however, I am thinking that perhaps by junior high, we may want to go either private or public school. I personally think children need some socializing.

And if you feel that the "socializing" they get via their time at public schools is adequate then by-all-means have at it but I personally feel that there are many other worthwhile opportunities for socialization than public school. |

| I was in public school for Kindergarten... then my parents put me in private school from 1st grade through 9th grade. I wanted to leave the private school ever since the end of 5th grade. Finally, my parents pulled me out of the private school and put me in the public school from 10th through 12th grade. I loved it.
My private school experience was terrible. I hated it and was very thankful that my parents realized how miserable I was there.
As for when(if) I have kids of my own... I'm not sure what I'll do. I see ups and downs for all the different school systems.

| I was homeschooled most of my life. I intend to do the same with my kids, at least when they are younger. Later, it depends on what my kids want.
Homeschoolers can be normally socialized. Sure, there are some who aren't, but many are. Just a slight pet peeve of mine when people think I don't have any friends because I learned at the kitchen table.

| I was homeschooled for my whole life...until age 16 at which age I began college (but had to take a break during my 17th year in order to save money for school...hah).
People ask me if I liked being homeschooled my whole life--thats like asking a dog if he likes being a dog. I have never known anything else, so to me it is just school. I don't like it anymore or any less than someone who has been public schooled their whole life.
Elizabeth--AMEN. People are surprised when I tell them that I was homeschooled. "But you're so friendly!" they say. Yeah...so?

| Private school from Pre-K through now (11th grade). I would like to go to a public university, however. I will probably end up at the small, private, liberal arts college my mom works at, though. I don't really mind, though, subsidy because of my mom working there means I'll be paying around $250-$300 a month for a college education. |
