Just curious to see if anybody else is going down with the ship. Apparently it's been back from hiatus for a couple weeks now so I spent this evening catching up to tonight's episode (guess I'll watch that one tomorrow). I started watching this season out of sheer morbid curiosity, and while it's still not great, I've been enjoying this show again. I'm actually kind of interested to see what Samuel's big end-game is now that the big picture is starting to emerge.

All that said, if the rumors are true and Heroes does gets cancelled, I highly doubt I'll even mind.

I hadn't heard anything about it getting cancelled. I think I'd probably feel the same. This season hasn't exactly been horrible. It just kinda feels like it's all over the place without a real clear cut villain like Sylar was in season 1. I still don't really get a lot of what's going on sometimes. Samuel was pretty ambiguous from the start, and they haven't really given us a vision of the impending doom like they did in the past, so all this ambiguity makes me feel like I'm missing a lot but isn't the type of ambiguity that gets me hooked (e.g. Lost). But yeah, I still watch.

I've been watching this season over the last few days. It's a good show to watch when all the other great shows are on hiatus for breaks.

So anyone else watch the season finale?

*SPOILERS*
I thought it was one of the best episodes I've seen(mind you I've only seen the last 2 seasons....)
should be interesting now that Claire's exposed them.
Also sorta liking the new good Syler, but I dunno if that'll last...

SPOILERS

Just finished watching it. I was actually surprised it ended so soon. This can't actually be the season finale, right? Last year they did the 2 volumes a season deal, so I'm expecting there to still be new episodes, especially since it's only February.

Anyways, I'll say that I really kinda liked the last few episodes of this volume. Sure, it wasn't amazing, and it certainly had it's super cheesy one liners. But it seemed to gain some better focus near the end, and I kinda liked the dynamic of Samuel's defeat feeling more like a man's sad, lonely failure rather than a simple good guy beating bad guy.

As for Syler, I generally like Syler being evil, but for some reason this good change feels right and was done relatively well. Compared to some of his character developments in the past that were cringe worthy, this actually felt refreshing.

And as for the beginning of the next volume, I think Claire's an idiot, especially since it wasn't so long ago she and everyone else with abilities were being hunted down. I would think exposing those with abilities is just inviting a similar fate. But we'll see how this develops.

anticlimactic. momentum had been building, then *poof* over.

spoilers:

claire is indeed an idiot. very sad how they have butchered her as a character. her being similar to sylar, afraid of being alone? oh please - she above all others can blend right in. don't give me the emo pouty misunderstood girl routine, that's so old. I like how they just ditched the lesbian "deep" relationship thing just like that. so shallow and shock-value-ish. sad.

I at least think they did Sylar's transition the right way. they needed lots of time for him to deal with his issues. throwing him and peter together in a rather pointless little alternate universe was at least somewhat believable. kind of like being trapped on a deserted island alone, they had to work through forgiveness.

samuel's downfall was so anticlimactic I can't believe it. I would have expected something more from edgar vs. samuel, not peter. he at least had the most emotional interest in the matter due to his love for the tattoo chick that samuel had killed. leaving him weak and alone at the end was a nice touch - but somewhat unbelievable. there was sylar, peter, claire, hiro and ando around at the end, right? at least enough supers to give him a boost to maybe levitate a pebble and kill some folks like he did his brother. but ah well.

what else? ah yes, a nice ending to Hiro's little issue with his girly. they wrapped that up nicely. kudos.

parkman? kind of irritating character to me. he could lock sylar in a mental prison for "years" but the best he has is to just push the thought to him of "don't go with peter" when they were arguing? skin deep. but kind of true to his character this season of "leave me out of all this".

a much better season than the last few, though I'm left scratching my head at claire. you telling me after all the alternate futures and danko and nathan getting shot for wanting to go public meant nothing all of a sudden? any super present could have stopped her but didn't. meh. I am liking claire less and less.

It's unfortunate the direction this show went. I went back and rewatched it from the beginning...season one was fantastic. Season two was ok. Season three stunk. Season four stunk worse.

Basically season one made a lot of promises to the viewer that were broken in later seasons.

I can't recall another which had such immediate success only to lose it almost equally fast...both in terms of quality and popularity.

Couldn't have said it better.

I didn't even bother watching the final episode. There was a new episode of House that night or something.

Too bad it had to suck so much before it ended.
