As for how you are going to do it, I think girls generally like to be surprised, as in not knowing it's coming (I'm not talking about the fact of you asking, but more how and when you were going to do it). Am I right ladies?

My mom got married at 18 (yikes, I just realized that she was only 2 years older than I am now!!! *eek*), had me at 19 (about 8-9-10 months after they got married), and now is 36 with 7 kids. She says now that she was NO WHERE NEAR ready and mature enough to get married. She regrets getting married so early.
I'm not going to tell you what to do, but I would think about this iffen I was ya! |

and hey...her parent's basement works...just crack a little joke about it right before you pop the question. I can already see it in my head:
you - "Ha...isn't it funny that this was the place I first told you that I loved you"
her - "[insert girly words]"
you - "will you marry me?"
her - "OMG!"
for the rest of your lives (if she says yes), when people ask about your engagement, she'll tell them that you asked her in the place where you first told her you loved her...and they'll all say, "awwww how sweet" |

In my opinion as it has been said the age isn't the issue, it's maturity. Maturity not in just making it on your own and being able to take care of another person but knowing that marriage is not something you do just because you love someone. Knowing that marriage take a lot of hard work each day, it's being able to be selfless, and being the husband/wife God has called you to be. No matter what age you choose to get married I strongly recommend a good amount of premarital counseling with the minister who will be marrying you because it helps so much during the adjustment period of marriage.
