Why don't sites have log-out buttons anymore?

Seriously. If I want to log-out of Amazon or Barnes & Noble or whatnot, I have to find the stupid little line where it says "Hi, Nathanael! (not Nathanael? click here!)" and tell it that I'm not me. Can't they just keep a stupid log-out button somewhere on their site? Most of the time, the stupid little welcome bar thing doesn't even come up, so I have to search around through bunches of pages trying to find the log-out button. I guess I could just clear my cookies, but...

It's just a plot by the evil nazis of corporate America to make your life inconvenient and dull.
