Loyola (Monroe Library) Quirks: Work schedules.

Monroe Library has a large number of persons working in it. Their work schedules seem random. We have 30 student workers, 2 head circulation/front desk librarians, 1 sort of head sort of no one knows what she does at that computer all day but it looks really important though, then we have 2 people from the 3rd floor that come to the front desk to work sometimes, plus about 3 other persons who I have no idea where they come from to work the front desk, and then sometimes the people from the reference desk are at the front desk, and we have about 5 people pop in once every couple weeks.

NOW the real point. NO ONE knows anyone else's schedule, and everyone seems to work almost random hours. So this leads to A. about 5 phone calls a day to this person and that person asking when the come in. Also it leads to hte leaving of cryptic sticky notes on any available surface trying to inform whoever the heck might be coming in next what needs done, or what has been done.

Today it was just Brooke and I for about an hour, then about 7 other people showed up to work causing massive over staffing of the front desk. The problem, last Wed, it was just Brooke and I all day. The schedule seems to change at random.

They should just recruit the people that cause the library door alarm to go off to work at the front desk for an hour. That'll teach those no-good library-material not-properly-processors!
