Superman or Spider-Man?

This is a BIG question, another kid in our youth group and our youth pastor disagree over whether superman or spiderman is better, most people at church say spiderman. What do you think?

Spiderman is way cooler, but the Man of Steel would definitely pwn him (unless Spidey had Kryptonite on hand).

Really? You mean if someone had the key to someone's weakness all set up before the fight that they could beat them!!!

Even then, how many times have we seen Supes take down people who had kryptonite? There also stands the question of "which" superman we are talking about. Middleaged superman and older has an immunity built up.

In an even, mano a mano, fight, superman would win every time without any question. Spiderman does not have the strength to hurt Superman in any way and his webbings will not bind him. He has NO advantage over superman in a battle. His intellect doesn't exactly help him when he's soooo outpowered.

supe's pretty smart too now... i think supe would just toy with spidey until he died from exhaustion...

lol, supes is pretty smart, perhaps an even better tactition than Spidey (Spiderman's intelligent might only be scientific rather than a sort of battle intelligence).

However, neither would kill the other. They are both heros.

What if I created a house of kryptonite and lured superman into it then proceeded to kill him with a wooden bat?

Most any comic book character can be defeated if you have time to prepare for them in a way that attacks their weakness.

Once again, in an even fight (normal powers against normal powers), superman cleans the floor. And, aside from that, even when superman's enemies have kryptonite, superman usually overcomes his weakness enough to survive.

Batman is better than both of them

Sipderman and Superman both have superpowers. Batman is completely human, relying on his wit and devices. I assume you've all read DKR. He fought Superman there, and if I remember right, he almost beat him. Plus he was old. I haven't read it in years, so I might be wrong.

But between Spidey and Superman...Superman would own Spiderman.

Superman without question, Spidey(as much as I love him) would not have a chance period. Superman has super speed, power, laser eyes, icy breath, and is over all the cheapest DC charater IMO. Spidey has got squat to counter any of those powers. Now Dark Phoenix or Sentry could beat the tar out of Superman.

How did this turn into a Versus thread? If being able to beat up another guy in a fight is the criteria for who is "better," then I'll just create a comic book character who's 100 times stronger than Superman. Ta-da, I've just made a "better" character than Superman. Ridiculous.

As far as characters go, I prefer Spider-Man to Superman, simply because he is a more down-to-earth, believable person. He's the lovable loser and nothing ever goes his way. I identify with that. Superman pretends to be a dorky human, but knowing that he could squish The Daily Planet with his pinky makes it a bit superfluous.

who can do anything thats just dumb. not saying that i don't like superman

1. Yes, older superman as in the one with grey hair on the sides. Still just as powerful as ever, but more experienced and resistent.
2. "who can do anything that's just dumb" lol, Flying. The most coveted superpower is something that's just dumb? Let's not forget the super strength and invulnerability. Super speed, supersight, super hearing. Heat vision, supercold breath. Please point out which one is dumb?
3. Yes, I think spidey is much higher on the cool factor scale. I prefer Superman for many other reasons.
4. Back to the "dumb" super powers. Superman's super speed and flying more than outweigh spiderman's agility and wall climbing/webslinging abilities. His superstrength and invulnerability completely beat the crap out of spiderman's super strength and damage resistance (that comes from being super strong). The only thing Spiderman has on Superman is his spidey sense. But even if superman were sleeping with his thumb in his mouth, spiderman couldn't harm him.

Excellent point...I think this is what the thread should focus on...because the other question is definitely a foregone conclusion. Superman was made to be an ultimate superhero. Spiderman is the flawed human who overcomes stuff. I like Spidey.
