Exclamation Campus Ministry

Hi everyone! I'm rico. I've been a song leader in our church for seven years, I've been in this ministry since high school. I just love to sing and I'm glad I'm using this talent for God. I had grown so much from this ministry spiritually. Now that I'm in college, I am blessed 'coz I joined a campus ministry group where I could continue to sing for God. Now I can lead the worship singing once a month in front of my fellow students. However, I'm not that comfortable with all the people that I work with, I mean the people in the campus ministry. We have a pastor who leads and guides us, but most of the people who handles the musical instruments are really young. Indeed, they are talented, no question to that, but I'm having problem with their questionable behavior. At times, I just want to open it up but I'm afraid I would end up hurting their feelings. I'm like three years older than these guys, so I just want to tell them about their behavior like an older brother. We should be shining for Jesus and not put up a ministry so we could shine and promote ourselves. I know I should pray for them but what do you think? Should I tell them with gentleness and respect?

I think you should tell them if they're really living for God, they should also do it in real life, not only during praise and worship

I'm confused. Are there objectional practices in their lives, or are they acting like rock stars on the stage? I get a vibe for either one from your post so I don't know.

You're right Dice, it's more of a stage show off (pretending to be rock stars) and having some objectionable vices.

Sometimes we do that too...but most of the time we play for God...For example, in our school we have this 'club' or somewhat of a fellowship We Play for God...We don't engage in activities that makes us compete with other bands..We would rather give a special nu8mber instead..We play majority of Christian Music...Not that we are forced to, but we want to

Right! That shoud be the case! We play for God. In everything we do, we do it all for the glory of our maker. Our lives would still be the greatest testimony or bible we could share to others.

Were there expectations and guidelines to join the worship team?

Expectations? I think they should know what to expect. Guidelines, there are no formal guidelines like set of rules if that's what you mean. But the worship team meet everytime to have devotions and just study the Word together. And with that, they should know where they are. They're not in a rock band or something, we are doing it all for the glory of God. I guess the problem is the age. Too young maybe.

I've been in that situation too, and the the greatest struggle i had was when our pastor appointed me to be the leader of the team... He advised me that during our devotion (as a team) we will focus on the area of 'true worshippers' topic and that's it, definitely they will come to realize it... and by the way i think it's okey to confront or advise them, just choose the right words..
