As far as the input jack, the only way to "test" it to see if its solder joint broke is to wiggle it around while playing, or, what I usually do when testing something like this, I just use a cord plugged in with the volume up a little bit, hold the plug in my hand and touch the tip with my thumb. If everything's working you get that "uuummmm" noise, its easier than trying to hold and play a guitar while messing with stuff.

Next I would try some gentle but firm pounding on the amp with either the thumb test or guitar playing. What you are testing for is a broken solder joint - usually when you pound on it, it will make contact at least briefly, sometimes it will be "fixed" for an extended period. Don't pound on it so hard that you create broken joints though

If you don't have an extra 12AX7, get one and try that one in each position. Its not a bad idea to have an extra pair of power tubes either, you could swap those out and see.

Oh yeah, make sure the speaker plug is pushed into its jack all the way, there is a shorting switch in those. Go ahead and pull it out and stick it back in atime or two. If you have another speaker cab available, try plugging that in - you can use a guitar cable if you don't have a speaker cable, and don't worry about the impedance of the cab for a brief test, it won't blow up your amp.

Other than all the above, unless I think of something else, it could be just about anything - bad component, bad output tranny, broken solder joint....

alright, so i tried those things, no luck. i took it up to Daddy's Junky Music where i bought it last summer, and they are going to send it in to get looked at. it should be under warranty, which is good.
