| Synth I guess i'm looking for a synth, a decent one that is fairly priced... oh needs to be a keyboard synth, i don't have a midi controller, but i'd like one that has midi in so i can eventually buy a midi-controller keytar...

| I wouldn't waste my time with something that old. I think you're confused about midi controllers. You buy a midi controller to trigger things on a computer or other midi instrument. If you've got a laptop or something you can buy something as cheap and simple as an M-Audio Oxygen controller and trigger sounds on a laptop or play instrument samples that are on your laptop.
That being said...what is your budget? You're not going to get a true synth for less than $400 new. Granted, $400 can get you an incredible synth in an Alesis Micron or a Korg MicroKorg, but that's about the starting point. I'd highly recommend either of those, though. Probably the Alesis before the Korg.

The Novation K-Station, apparently "OOP" as it were, is nice, too.

| well i decided again't a keytar because i play guitar and plan on playing both in the same song (diff instruments at diff parts) and i can stand to stand behind the synth to play the synth part... also i could be looking at a used Korg Polysynth 61 (if the school wants to sell it, i'm negotiating with the band director).. and as for old, i wouldn't mind something old as long as it will last me until i can afford a new one.. right now i'm learning to use synth, also as far as old goes i'm looking for something with a bit of a retro 80's rock sound...

| You don't want that PSR... or any other PSR board, for that matter. VintageSynth would be a good starting place for more research.

For field two, either digital (new) or analog (older), but NEVER sampler.
For field three, put your price range in... under $500 should do it.
For field four, put whatever you like. I like "old school" features.
For field five, you want "synth, pads, bass," and nothing else.

| That's really just a tool, though. Don't narrow yourself to only what it finds.

| That's exactly what I put in when I did it just now, thinking of what you want to do.
The list it returned seemed reasonable.
