The NEW MTG

Ok I didn't want to raise a dead thread for this topic so for those of you who follow:

What do you think of 'the new Magic: The Gathering' card game. I'm talking about with the new card look and basically everything after Scorge(?)(sp?).

I guess I'm more interested in the opinions of people who have played MTG for years.

Anyone?

I played back in the day from Ice age through Urza's Block, quit because of college, and played from Onslaught through the beginning of Kamigawa block. When I came back, I thought the game was better. I liked the new card face enough. It wasn't better, just different. The biggest difference I noticed was that players were tons better. I was getting smoked by 12 year olds playing goblins, and playing it right. I also liked the intentional synergy between cards. The power level of cards was great (especially mirrodin block). The different tournament levels, vintage, legacy, extended, etc. That way you didn't have to rebuy all the new cards from the next block.

Some problems: There are way too many keywords that do nothing for the game. They have gotten out of hand. Also, the same synergy between cards that I like is also something I don't like. A good player can look at a set list and pretty much figure out what the good archtypes are going to be for the block based on the set mechanics and a little goldfishing.

I'd still play, but both card shops in my area closed. Also, it was getting a little expensive.

I dunno, I was never good at Magic because I was too dumb to understand strategy when I first bought the cards, and I wasn't really concerned about the cards: just drawing them (which I was good at). So yeah, I thought it was neat and all I still have my cards. Hah.

I'll be honest. The new look of the cards made me angry at first. Then I realised how much easier they were on the eyes.

I love the game. I've been playing for years. I don't have many cards anymore, as I stopped playing for a while and just got back into it, but the cards I have make a great deck. I need to go booster shopping...
