| i got pierced at 14ga and had hoops right away (only earing i've ever worn actually). I think the whole don't use hoops thing is malarky if you do proper aftercare.
I'm gauged to 12 right now since they wouldn't do a plain stretch to 10ga with hoops (would have to go plugs) so i didn't want to do that yet. I won't go over 8ga ever, since that's about the largest you can go with minimal permanent scarring, if you ever take them out.
I've had them now for 2+ years, and the 12ga for maybe 2-3 months. |

In addition, healing times are very general guidelines, not rules. Any number of things can make a piercing heal slower than the "healing time". |

| I saw this dude with plugs today. They were disgustingly huge. Like, HUGE! Just in one ear though.. the other one had a stick in it, literally a twig. It was creepy. He was a cool guy though, so it evened out. |

| To answer your question, I'm a proud owner of stretched earlobes, approx. 3/4".
As a fellow stretcher, I hope you don't mind me cautioning you to not skip sizes/gauges on your ears and perhaps take it a bit slower...? It puts a lot of excessive trauma on them and could lead to damage down the road. You know, just trying to look out for ears everywhere.
Anyways, here is a crappy picture of my right ear. Pardon everything but the lobe.

It's a known fact you can't bite your ear.

| I've come to terms with myself.
Actually, yeah, it'll close up considerably [as it has done] but you're right, I'll have a slit/hole in my ear forever. If it's the only thing I have to worry about though, then I'm not too bad off.
