Headphones in the speaker out?

Welps, my Hotrod does not have a headphone jack (), so I was wondering if, since tube amps don't like to not be hooked up to speakers, I could disconnect the speaker and insert a set of headphones? I'm guessing the headphone impedance would have to be 8 ohm, since that's what my amp uses. And if this is doable, would having a volume control on the headphones themselves make them act as an attenuator?

I think you'd be more likely to blow yer headphones.....either that or the volume would be EXTREMELY touchy since the phones are used to handling like 1 watt or something, and your speaker is designed to handle A LOT more than that. You'd also only hear the sound in one ear. (unless of course your speaker out is stereo)

Ok, now that I've made it clear to not do that.

If you do that, then the following will happen. First your headphones will blow. Next your amp will be loadless, and then some component will blow on your amp.

Headphones are only meant to use signals slightly hotter than a line level signal. A speaker level signal will definitely cause a lot of things to break very, very quickly.
