| I give it an 8. The live (kinda muddy) sound to the album kinda takes away from what it could be. |

| awesome stuff, but i don't understand why its on this website, i don't think these guys are a christian band anymore.
I saw the video for "my love my love" its the guys in the band about to kill a little girl, and these newlyweds stop and save her, and the singer punches the wife, shoots the husband, then stnads over the wife and shoots her in the head. Then the little girl (seven years later) prays and the newlyweds come out of their grave from the dead, so they are zombies, the go and violently kill the band that killed them and then go back to their grave.
I still love these guys a lot but i don't think they're christian anymore, if so, explain the christian meaning behind that song/video?

| Wow, does it really matter that they aren't christian guys? Just this past summer they made it clear that they weren't a christian band. Let's let it go. It doesn't matter at all. |

So whats to stop anyone from requesting threads or panterea or the black dahlia murder now? (which are sweet bands) Quote:

(which are sweet bands) | The reason why I don't think it's a big deal is because Zao was once a professed christian band. It's only natural people would still assume they were. As I far as I know, Pantera was never a professed christian band. |

| Its because Dan really likes zombie movies. Have you see the documentary (its so freaking long though)? They talk for like 10 minutes about a mall where a zombie movie was shot lol. My Love, My Love is a great song though. and a pretty cool video.
Anyway Dan is says he believes in God but does not like the church, and Jesse Smith (the old drummer) used to be a Christian, I guess, until he decided he was missing out on partying, drinking and everything else. Not sure about the other members.

Dan is still a christian, but he has angst against the church (and I totally get it, im about 1 legalistic comment from leaving mine...), Russ is a christian (and I heard a rumor that he was in the band again), Scott is a christian.
I dont know what Marty professes to believe, I know he believes in God, but I dont know that he sees God the same way as a christian does.
Jeff (who is, unfortuneately, no longer in the band) is an athiest.
Jessie was/is an idiot. Im sure he started out as a great person, but somewhere along the way he had too many beer bottles thrown at his head...
I seriously dont see what anybody ever saw in this guy as far as his drumming goes. Just because he helped start Zao doesnt mean he deserves all this praise (and alot of times, it seems that that is the main reason he gets any praise). He did (and as far as i know, still does) profess christianity. Though, he isnt doing it in Zao, so I guess it doesnt count.
Guys, the simple fact is, is that the majority of the members in the band are christians, and they do write songs that are relevant to christians (and alot of songs that are relevant to people in general). But, I would also say that since "Blood and Fire" they stopped being an exclusively christian band. Mainly because of the way Dan writes his lyrics. All of his lyrics are personal, most of them come from his real life. I think the one big exception for this is the "The Funeral of God" album. Not that the lyrics arent personal to Dan, but they arent representative of his real life. Plus, I think Scott and Russ had a big hand in writing those lyrics, and Scott and Dan wrote alot of the music from what I understand. Dan doesnt write songs to appease christians or nonchristians. He writes what he wants to write.
Lets also keep in mind that they are now with a secular label (however, this label does produce some other christian artists). So, they are no longer marketed as a christian band.
Also, this record is some of the best music I have ever heard. Of course, Im a fan of Scotts playing, so I dont know that Ill ever hear a song that he recorded that I wont like. And Dan still is a phenomenal vocalist (though, I fear that the day draws near that he cant do screaming anymore, I heard hints of a fading voice in a couple of songs).
Besides all of that, there are other bands represented in this forum, and the CM forum that are not openly marketed as christian bands.

Everytime Jesse was on he was smoking, drinking a beer, and (though I've largely stopped caring about coarse language) he had a pretty bad mouth at some points. He was also getting real emotional and whiney, shaking abit. Anyway its weird to watch.

I dont have a problem with him drinking or smoking (I mean, I drink, so I cant really complain now can I?).
I dont like Jesse because I dont think he is a very good drummer (he has talent, yes, but I dont think he ever really developed it while he was in Zao), his attitude sucks (his attitude alone caused the band to break up twice), and he's a jerk.
Also, on the DVD he comes off very high on himself (though, its obvious that he tries very hard to cover that part of himself up).
