I definetly agree with you there. If it hurts even a little, I take a break and drink lots of water.

I can do low growls really well. altho, I'm not exactly sure how I do it: /. I think I use my stomache somewhat like gutterals, but it doesn't sound anything like gutterals.

lol....death vocals eh?

i haven't gotten the ability to do words very clearly with it yet...but i can make people think that there's something growling behind them.
i've been able to do "droning" ,the low frequency that a horse makes on its lowest pitches, since i was like 8...

but yet, it has never messed up my voice or anything.
some people say that i can sound like a dragon, horse, wolf, dog, cat, mountain lion, bear...and otehr "things"
and i think that that's pretty cool, you can think what you like.

ok dude. this is a technique i learnt online.

if you know how to sigh, like Errrrrghhh. like with your voice rumbling...THATS the tool to a death metal low growl.

but use your mouth to control how low and high ya get.

if this makes sence hit me up. if not...hit me up and ill explain it better,

Death metal growls are easy (for me) It's basically an extended sigh with a growl esque to it, I heard a very helpful audio clip once which i will try to find the link to. High pitched screams are what I'm stuck on, like spencer from underoath and rob from pillar, I've heard hundreds of different things on how to do the high pitched ones, but I can't make the noise no matter what I try. The closest I've come is to try and make a pitch-less distorted whisper that might sound decent with a mic, but I can't get anything audible.
Here is the link to the tutorial I found that helped me master low-death growls. I seriously think it works because alot of people tell me that I immitate death-metal vocals well:
