Try one of these yet!

Oscar Schmidt OE30 by Washburn $99 at Musician's Friend. I've been reading about them for over a year and when they dropped the price 50 bucks I bought one. This years best bang for the buck award.

50 bucks? You'd think it'd sound like crap...Is there any tonal range at all?

This negatively affected my tone in ways that I just can't describe.
Then, on a whim, a few years ago I wandered into a Bath and Body Works store at a local mall and picked up some of their gentle foaming anti-bacterial hand cleansers.
The difference in my guitar's sound is so wickedly improved that I no longer feel the need to buy a new amp or pedals or even strings...EVER!
So, it's my belief that tone is in the soap.
Thank you and goodnight.

I'm playing mine right now. It's a GREAT guitar for its price. It has a great warm tone (Good for clean soft jazz, and fuzzie solos). It's good for a second guitar.

Well here is what MF wrote "maple body and bolt-on mahogany neck combined with Grover tuners and Washburn 400 Series pickups makes it a sweet electric equally adept at jazz, blues, rock, or country."

I would agree. the body has white binding top, back, and in the F-holes. Many say they get them with problems, chips, scratches, etc. mine arrived with no flaws. The knobs don't even wobble when they are turned. It sounds as good as the Dot 335 Epip and feels and looks way better than the $299 Epip 335 2 pot copy.

It sounds great clean but I like it best going though my grunge pedal playing "Cat Scratch Fever". It's also sounds great cranked through a DS1 pedal and a CryBaby Wah.

I'm not saying it's better than an expensive guitar, I'm saying $ for $ it's a great guitar and my fingers make it sound terrific. I don't know what your fingers can do with it.

There's a blem sunburst one on there for $85 bucks. But for the 15 bucks extra for a new, hopefully unblemished one you get free shipping. They've also got a gig bag made just for it for 30 bucks.

The blue burst is verrrrrrrrrry tempting...

I would think the unblemished ones would actually have some finish flaws too considering the price point.

Yeah, but mainly for the free shipping is why I wouldn't bother with a blem model. The $99 puts you above their free shipping price point, so that saves you a good $20 or $25 probably, which cancels out the blem pricing.

I forgot to say above that my guitar arrived intonated correctly and strings that were actually new and still needed to be stretched so they would stay in tune.

I have thought about getting one of those myself. I have never been able to try one out because a can't find a store that carries them. Apparently the stores really can't compete with the online prices on these things. $99 is an awesome deal. Of course, that doesn't include a case. Music123 sometimes has them for $149 with the case. I think a soft case would run about $30 more and a hard case would cost as much as the guitar. They have great reviews on Haromony-Central.

How is the neck and fretwork on yours?

Had a friend that got the OS Gig bag and said it was not a good buy. You can get a standard dreadnought size Gig bag and it will fit the guitar very well.

My mom and sister got one for my nephew for his Birthday and I tested it in my gig bag to make sure it would fit.

Good point. I hadn't even thought about that.
