It's time to play...

...find the modeling technology!

(Should be everyone's favorite game by now )

One of these guitars is a Soldano-design Yamaha T50C straight into the input. The other is a Soldano model on the PODXT run into the FX loop return of the Yamaha.

Guitars are the same. Speaker and cabs are the same. Room is trhe same. Mic setup is the same. Everything exactly the same except for the preamp, one is all tube, one is all digital. So the question is simple. Which side is the modeler?

Ready? Go!

(...and this is a cover of Paris In Flames by Thursday)

hard to say, but i'm going with right, the plam mutes just don't sound right, reminds me alot of my SX200c.
of course, that could very easily be the tube amped tweaked to mimic the flaws of a SS amp.

I would say the left. I dont know why...it just sounded more controlled or shaped (for lack of a better term)

Great clip though. that guitar sound rocks any of my guitar sounds buttockals!

on listeneing again, the left side does sound a little too perfect. heck, you could easily make them sound the same, if you're good at tweaking the POD. but there's a diference between hearing clips and palying the thing/tweaking it.

Yeah, I build my entire rigs off the fact that I love high-gain guitar sounds. So this is my thang!

Drums, BFD (quite convenient, I don't have to drag the set out, and it sounds nice ). Bass was plugged direct into the board, no amp (too lazy to set the amp up), gave it a bit of drive with Boogex.

Though there is that difference, tone is tone.

true, but there's something to be said for how longs it takes to get said tone...

Well, it didn't take me too long to make either tone. I actually started out with a tone that I already made on my POD, and tweaked my amp a bit to match it. Couple turns of the knobs, slapped it on a recording, done.

Maybe I'm too old - are you talking "Right side, left side" as in a stereo sound field? Or something else?

He has 2 different signals...each panned hard to its own side...so one side (of the stereo field...yes...or headphones) is an actual micd amp, and the other side is the pod.
