watts are power-not necessarily how loud it is--
side note-anyone know how many decibels an amp can get?

it will vary according to your speakers ability to handle the sound. Major Tom, IIRC, knows alot about this stuff.

where does it say it in the manual? I read through there and couldn't find anything about decibel levels aside from the generic warning.

it says volumes exceeding 90db...this is a generic warning that is in many amp manuals.

And not just any new amp, a new tube amp.

Congratulations, indeed, RelientKFan7. Personally, I like my classic tweed color Classic 30, but the black is good and for that price, I think you definately scored. Hopefully it arrives in good condition and you like the sound.

I'm pretty sure when I go hunting my shotgun hits 219dbs-and I don't wear plugs-but it's just a short burst-my tube amp can get pretty freakin loud at 7-not unbarable-but I wouldn't play long that high

219db is pretty much impossible to achieve...a nuclear blast is somwhere around 190db.
