Rich Mullins is amazing, and one of my favorite artists. He would definitely rank as one of the most theologically sound artists out there.

My other pick might come as a bit of a surprise, but I'm going to go with John Michael Talbot. Chances are not many of you have heard his music, but most of it is verbatum from scripture. You can't get more theologically acurate that that! Not to mention he's a wonderful guy. The first concert I went to was a JMT concert. He has a voice that's so amazing it isn't fully captured on his CDs. You have to be there to really get the full experience.

The oc supertones have some many great songs that i think are very true. I am not exactly sure what they beleive as far as doctrine etc but i like how they advocate reading the bible and apoligetics etc
Also this may sound wierd but i think that releint K writes the best worship songs. For the moment i feel faint

Never under estimate my jesus
your telling me that thiers no hope
I'm telling you your wrong
never under estimate my my jesus
when the world around you crumbles
he will be strong
you will be strong

and less is more

All that i have
i lay before
with my pride on the floor
cause to you less is more

are both awesoem songs on thier latest cd. a lot of thier other songs are really super and have great spiritual messages combined with very fun and humerous lyrics.

What about Keith Green? He's not from my time and his music is certainly not my first choice in style, but from the few songs that I have heard and can remember they are very powerful...for instance "Asleep in the Night."

Also I would have to say Petra (a group that has been around almost as long as their name ). Man their early stuff was incredible. I would even have to say more so than Cademan's call...but that's my opinion.

Oh and now I am on a roll remembering my old HS days (I think I might actually shed a tear )and would have to add another great band and that is Whiteheart. Man some good old artists here.

And on a side note...even though I brought up some oldies, I am really not that old (26). I like a lot of new stuff in the Christian music industry, and I think there are some really great artists now.

It's totally unscriptural and has sold 11½ million copies. That's a big problem, certainly enough to warrant my rants and raves.

I think it's sick a worship band would try and make a few bucks off of a popular trend.i haven't heard it(saw them in concert years ago, before they were popular, one of the quirks of living in Texas)the jabez song, mayeb if they wrote it at some other time, but its just too coincidental that we have a major biblically unsound trend being pushed down our throats, then they just happen to write a song about.hmm, anyone heard "wedding dress" by derek webb, now thats a good jabez song

hmmm, luke edited this and deleted the link to the ftp server?i guess i wont repost it,must have been some reason he deleted it.

i was also not so keen on it until i read the book. It is one of the many "fads" which permeate modern evangecial Christianity and are turning Jesus into a gimme-gimme health and wealth vending machine.

(referring to Prayer of Jabez)

wow, BigFatJam, you took me right down memory lane. I'm feeling like I've got one foot in the grave, hanging out here with all these young punks! But definitely my vote is for Petra, definitely. Hasn't really been my style of music since about 1990, but hey. . . excellent lyrics. Also Keith Green -- my husband drives me crazy playing all these horrible old recordings of K.G. but they're excellent songs lyrically.
