Thd Bivalve

I am about to order one of these tonight. What are your opinions on this amp? I am going to get an avatar 2 x 12 cab with one vintage 30 and one g12h30. Do you know what the difference between a mono cab and a stereo cab? Any help would be nice. Thanks

Well...I would think the stereo cab would be wired to have basically each speaker with its own channel.

If you need a stereo cab, I would get one, but I know that I, personally, would never need one. The only reason I could think of needing a stereo cab would be for something like trem or a leslie sound. Most times ive seen stereo stuff, its been a stereo head with 2 seperate cabs...not stereo speakers in a single cab...but then again, Im not that experienced with anything but combos.

I've actually wanted to check out the THD UniValve, but I have no experience with either the UniValve or the BiValve. I like the concept of them though (and the fact that they have a built-in mini Hot Plate).

Mono vs. Stereo:

basically, Mono means that each speaker (or set of speakers) is run by the same channel is on the same line.
Stereo means that each speaker (or set) in the cabinet is running on it's own "input" so to speak. One way to think of stereo is having two separate mono cabinets.

of course, this all changes with mono vs. stereo amps...oh the things to think about. the above was just a small dosage.

I just want to say that I envy you right now! I've been researching amps in my free time, because I want to get a new one as a grad gift to myself, and I have pretty much decided on the Bivalve/Avatar combo. I didn't realize it was such a good deal though! Let me know what you think of it when you get it.

I can't wait, I get to order it when I Get back from youth group. I'm not sure if I should get a hellatone 60 and a hellatone 30 or a vintage 30 or a g12h30. I am going to get the cab in green tolex with a weat grill. Its going to look soo cool.

Hmmm, I dunno about the speakers. Not sure I would go with that particular color choice too. I just don't see that matching the black and silver of the Bivalve.

The Hellatones are just aged out V30's. I'd go for the Hellatones. Also, you probably want the 30's since your amp doesn't have too much wattage.

Well, V30s are used with all kinds of amps, even 200W heads, so. They have 60W power handling, I believe.

60W sounds about right...

The low-powered answer to this question is the 25W G12M "Greenback", though the G12H handles a meagerly more 30W and has a higher speaker response.

I could definitely see how the V30/G12H combo could end up being a beautiful thing.

a celestion blue would only double the price of the cab lol. Would it work for me to put two greenback speakers into my carvin sx200c and just use it as a cab? I want to get my bro a valve junior.
