It will be reversible later, breaking the cap should not injure the traces underneath. Its just a little plastic or ceramic thing with a couple soft metal leads. I would venture to say that desoldering, when done by an amateur (don't know is Wesley is in that category or not...), is probably more hazardous to copper traces; too much heat, bad technique can ruin 'em - they lift off. Even that is reversible though, using a little bit of small gauge wire to re-connect the circuit where they lifted off. Not to mention that taking it apart and so forth could also lead to other types of damage, like wires breaking from being bent back and forth, or an inadvertent solder splash creating a short circuit that goes unnoticed, accidentally breaking a terminal off of a pot...etc. Sometimes the lazy way is best.
