Also, make sure you're using the bridge pickup of your guitar. | that's pretty close to what i have already... in fact i would say what i have is right in that, except i turned the contour off, i don't like it.. it does wierd things... it's alright for like the punk stuff but i don't like it for my nu-metal stuff.... i've messed around with it a bunch and i just think it sounds WAAY better with it off...

| you should probably also know that SS rectification is generally the preferred type for metal and hardcore players because it tightens up the signal and reduces rectifier sag. To this extent, Casey is right...rectification has almost nothing to do with your tone. What it does affect more is signal sag. Quote: |

| as far as contour goes, have you tried turning it all the way to ten? From reading the manual, that sounds like where you really are going to want it for "nu-metal" tones.
I think that to really get that "nu-metal" tone you should dime your bass, treble and contour, and set the mids at 0...then add gain as necessary. |

| ... i played with that contour for nearly 2 hours by itself... turning it off just makes it have better 'definition' (i say this because i really have no better word for it..", and as for the rectifier, i just don't like SS, i mean i was kidding around yesterday and was playing some pantera and it sounded alright, but i like A/B better...

We're just trying to help you, so there is no need to be ticked off.

The description of "contour" sounds alot like the "presence" knob on Fender amps, but at a different frequency. At any given setting, the effect that the knob is going to have on the sound is going to be different...
the same might be said for the rectifier setting as well. |
