| Cracked Fender Twin Cabinet Aaalright-so, it's been awhile since I've posted *cough*threeyears*cough*-but had an issue with a new amp that I need resolved. I know there are loads of knowledgeable dudes on this stuff here-so, that's why I've come back. Here's the problem-I recently bought a '04 fender twin tube amp off ebay-seller was great and all but, when it arrived, I found that the the right side of the cabinet had pulled away from the top, probably about an inch, and the the front of the amp had moved with the right. So, there's a gap on the front left of the amp between the side and the front and there's a gap on the top between the top and the right side. The seller had it prof. packed by the shipping company that shipped it but, someone dropped along the way. Now, here's the main question- I looked at the amp myself and it would appear everything is ok-power tubes-preamp tubes-transformers-reverb tank-etc-however-is it possible that something inside of the amp (the no-touch zone for consumers-so to speak) was damaged from a fall. I'm in the process of fixing the cabinet myself-but should I get it looked at by a local shop for anything internal? (yes-I know and trust the people there-it's no GC)
-Thanks a million-
(My bad for the long post-I'll try to get some pics up if need be)

(My bad for the long post-I'll try to get some pics up if need be) | I'm sure there could be stuff that could've popped loose in the shipping, but in general tube amps (at least in my experience) can take a bit of a beating. As long as the tubes are fine, you should be good to go. I'd honestly power that thing up and give 'er a rip before deciding whether or not it needed shop work...
but that's just me. |

wood-filler maybe, i don't know if that will affect tone, nails, wood glue something like that... if it's merely a cab issue..

Yeah and thanks steve too- I always thought tube amps were generally better built and a little more hardie-
So, it appears everything is gonna be alright=

I think it would be hard to argue a cracked amp cab as sturdy as most are built. I dropped my Traynor out of the back of my van and only the chrome corners were smashed. The sound it made when it hit the ground was sick. I hate to think what really happened with your amp. A Fender Twin would be my preferred amp, if it wasn't so heavy. That's the main reason I got the Traynor at 45 lbs. |
