era but with cats like Johnny Winter and just about every major rock
guitarist of the time having huge blues influences I too searched out Muddy
Waters, B.B. King, and every artist that inspired my heroes.

As a christian I love the blues as it did come from that rich well of African
American spirtitual and gospel music traditions. The blues is the son of
Black Gospel music. I always have loved the honesty of the blues as it
doesn't hide the pain and hurts of life. The blues has also held an honest faith
that has a hope and trust in God but it does so with a fearful prayer and
trembling where faith will cost you. No sugar coated candy faith here.
Yes the blues can speak of bad things and bad people but I've found it
to be more of good people feeling bad about trouble and looking for hope.
Yea, im a youngster compared to most people who like the blues (im 17), but, as you said, im trying to take that great music and give it my spin. I came across the blues by searching the roots of my heroes, as well. My favorite band for a while was led zeppelin, so i eventually traced back the roots of their bluesy music. Around that same time i was introduced to Stevie Ray Vaughan and i was blown away.

I also completely agree with your evaluation of the blues. I love how it is simple, straight forward, and so soulful. Those old bluesmen really knew how to reveal their hearts and souls through their music. Music by BB King, John Lee Hooker, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.....man, that stuff speaks to me.

Anyboy here write/perform Christian blues? I know that a lot of the old Delta blues I like often made use of Christian themes and imagery.

^^No, but i've always wanted to do that. I've messed around with writing some Christian blues, but i never finished the stuff, and certainly never performed it.

I've done some Blind Willie Johnson spirituals as well as bluesed up
some gospel standards for church. I'm a bass player who also plays
a lot of guitar. ( weird huh?) I play resonator and lapsteel slide styles
as well as conventional guitar styles and the old resonator gets a lot
of folks at church curious about out the older folk and blues gospels sung
in southern and rural churches for decades past.
I'd love to do a christian blues based band similar in style to the secular
band I'm in. I like what Glen Kaiser has done in christian blues music.
Keep on writing your music. It sounds like you have a lot of creative gifts.
I know its tough to finish writing songs at times because a song seems to
go to a lot of different places and ideas when you do write. You'll get it
eventually, just stick with it.
Anyways its a blessing from the Lord and a lot of fun to be playing music.
I encourage all my brothers and sisters in Christ to make a joyful noise.
