| Coloured pencil drawing of an Indian chief. If I can recall correctly, I think the photo was taken in the 1880's sometime. |

Definitely your best so far, excepting the Pirates of the Caribbean one (the dude with the squid for a face). I'd say the next thing for you to accomplish would be achieving a differentiating texture between clothing and skin. I haven't the slightest idea how to do it, but good luck
I've been reading C.S. Lewis for the last hour or so, and a lot of yesterday...so if my speech has an inch of pretentious British flavor to it, that be why...(sadness). |

I didn't take too much care into this portrait as I should have, by the time I got to drawing the clothes (I did them last), I was so sick of drawing this guy, so they didn't come out as well as they should have if I had been paying close attention to detail. That neck scarf was SO annoying. Quote: |

The way in which they speak is most eloquent to my standards. |

That neck scarf was SO annoying. | I know how you feel. My art teacher is making us draw a set of objects which are stacked upon one another, all objects being very white, bland and boring...and I've got to shade every. last. one. So far I think I've done four or five spheres, two eggs, but the cones and boxes really kill me. I hate doing those. Quote:

I'm a fan of that. | I'd dearly love to get into artistic interpretation of subjects, but what holds me back is the yearning to perfect my skills at rendering a subject perfectly in its aesthetic form before I try anything audacious. I think that because I'm just copying things exactly, I don't feel 100% pleased with my work. Maybe it's time I took another angle on things.
Thanks for the comment Jason, I appreciate it muchly. Quote: |

My Art teacher keeps telling me not to smudge. I thought I might try it though, to see how it turns out. This is my little glass rendering experiment: |

| Smudging has its place. I think what your art teacher might mean is that smudging can't make up for a lack of texture technique. I've seen people use smudging to hide their lack of skill with lending texture to an item.
Some items, however, simply require smudging. Like a light bulb.

Right now, we're doing boxes, eggs, spheres and such in art...I'm getting bored now though, she makes us do tons |
