Right. I was looking for something to draw a few nights ago, and I happened to find a lot of 80's style aerobics videos in the T.V. cabinet:
And here is a photo from the 1880's(or there abouts) I found in a book. |

| Oh, my mom has Denise Austin videotapes Nice job I love the way you did her arms; very nice and clear cut, the shading and highlights are beautiful. Jacket is good, too. Since you said we were allowed to give critique (and you've probably already noticed this), I noticed that her head/neck is a bit large for her body. Perhaps the next time you draw a figure from a book, you could block it/make sure it was all proportionate before you got down to the rest of it.
In the second one, the clothes make my eyes pop Really, really cool. I would guess that because it was an old photograph, you couldn't put much shadow in the faces (lots of whiting out)?
Anyway, keep up the good work

~Jen | Yeah, you're right. Her face should be longer and her neck less fat. I noticed when I was halfway to finishing, and I couldn't be bothered changing it. I'll just put it down to experience and remember to be wary of that problem the next time I draw something.
I usually would take more care with proportion, but I was intending for it to be a quick sketch (a few hours, heh!), so I didn't work to get the perfect shape before giving it form. Thanks for the critique! Quote: |

Old photographs have a tendancy to over-expose whites, as this photo I drew from did. So yeah, basically their faces were flat white. I didn't think I should go over-board with detail on them. |

And here is a wheelbarrow. I have to do set homework drawing now, because the other girls in my class were slack when it was our responsibility to find subjects. :/ |

Here is a quick portrait I drew of one of my friends. I'd make a fair estimate that it took no more than two hours, so it was pretty quick. I drew it completely freehand and rough, so I'm suprised it came out with such a great likeness to Kirri. She's got one of the cutest cherubish faces, I say. |
