Your principal will FLIP! | I am thinking that seeing my principal flip will be very amusing.

I picked it up on and off for the last 3 days, so maybe five hours? I'm not sure. Quote: |

The way most people (it seems you included) conceive of still life is rather bland, and not at all what the name would suggest. Still life isn't a collection of random objects arranged in a visually pleasing way and then painted / drawn / etc; it's an artistic snapshot of some everyday occurence in life (a "still" of "life"... whoa). If you arrange it for the purpose of drawing it, it's not really still life; you need to look around you for something in your everyday life that is artistic in its natural state and then draw that.

Technically, the term 'still life' pertains to a work depicting the arrangement of inanimate objects. Although, I admit, your definition of the term is quite valid. But if we're getting into technicalities... Here is a scan of my finished portrait. My scanner was not big enough, so the image is cropped a little. This sketch was done in about an hour from a photo in a motorbike encyclopaedia: And this one was very very fun. |

| Here's a sketch I did last night from a photo I found in a book on the camera's history in Australia. It is King George V, when he came out to Australia for the Federation in 1901.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the paper kind of went wavy, so you can see some crimply streaks from the peper when I scanned it. |

| Most people here know and love CGR's affable songwriter, Donnie Lawson. He asked me a while ago to make him a CD cover to advertise his music. I am getting a bit worried that I've taken so long, so I'm going to ask everyone here on CGR for ideas. The album name is 90 minutes, so I thought that the image should pertain to time. I would greatly appreciate anyone who can contribute with ideas! |

| Last night, in an attempt to break the habbits of my body clock, I pulled an 'all nighter'. I thought I might as well do something productive with my time, and so sprung forth my latest project- one that I am sure the ladies will be pleased with- a portrait of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribbean.
Here is the result:
Hmmm. It looks less good scanned than what it does in reality. |

| Well... if it looks completely awesome now... then I'd really have to wonder what it looks like in person... |

First off, my jaw is on the floor... Those are insane. I didn't know it was possible to draw like that! You have blown my mind, that is an incredible talent! Keep it up, you draw very well!
And for the 90 minutes thing, how about a clock and a half hanging from a large oak tree by rusty chains with a full moon in the sky and a house in the backround? I guess it'd probably be around 11, so there's one light on in the upstairs bedroom. I dunno, just a thought
