By the way, I find that the quality of the pastels doesn't matter all too much if you're using them in conjunction with Prismas. Quote: |

It turns out that I do have to do drawing homework this year:
There's just something about the look of American Indians that I love. |

Most of my portraits are up close in-your-face style, but this one is more...impersonal because the subject is smaller and facing an opposite direction. Quote: |

| ok, first of all, holy crap. you are insanely talented. no joke, my mouth fell open when I saw the work you're doing. you are (simply put) AMAZING. I really, really mean that. I totally admire your work.
I don't know if you have things like this where you live, but in the mall in my area, there's this lady who has a little stand in the middle of the mall and people hire her to draw photographs they give her... you could make some serious money. People would really go for that. We've gotten artwork done by her and it's absolutely fabulous. Just a suggestion if you're looking for a way to make some good money. You are by far talented enough to do that.

| Whoa. What a thread to return to CGR on! Amazing drawings, Megan! Am I correct in assuming that this is a passion for you? It is certainly a talent (and one that I am sure you have worked on developing -- it's one thing to have a talent, but if a talent isn't developed, it's really no good).
I sketch a little bit, but it's just storyboards for films and things. Would you be interested at all in doing some impressionistic animation-style -- it would be mostly black and white, lots of shadows. It's for a music video I'm germinating, and would be based on the song "John Wayne Gacy, Jr" by Sufjan Stevens.

later - Rebekah | Wow, you've made me feel very happy and appreciated this cold grey morning. Thanks.
Yeah, I've seen people doing that around here. The problem is that since I am doing my final year at high school I'm pretty bogged down with commitments, and I kind of get stage-fright when people watch me doing things. Otherwise, it'd be a good thing I'd pursue.
I have, however, done paid portraits for people who have approached me. Maybe I should put up an advertisement somewhere. Quote: |

It just kind of emerged in my life in the last year or two. Thanks Gales. Quote: |

I'm going to have to do that this year for my major production in Media class.
I would be interested, Galen, but I'd be terrified of letting you down, since cartoon drawing is not a strong point for me. If I were to accept, I'd need a lot of direction and clearly defined instructions.
My next projects:
- A series of 20-minute self-portraits by observation (i.e.: looking at myself in the mirror).
- Two drawings requested by my Church to be used in the Easter services. |

But I'm sure we could hammer something out between the two of us. If nothing else, it would be a fascinating learning experience.
I also recommend you listen to the CD, Illinois by Sufjan Stevens, even if you decide not to work on the project. The full title is Sufjan Stevens invites you to: Come on feel the Illinoise!. It's brilliant. Quote:

I have heard two Sufjan Stevens songs, and I love them. So much that I'm going to go out and look for the album. It's odd that no-one around here in my neck of the woods has even heard of Sufjan Stevens. Quote: |

Well, no they didn't get done. They were cast aside when I had urgent projects to finish.
I do, however, have an A3 drawing of myself to upload, but it's on the school computer system. It'll be up here tomorrow or the day after, I'd reckon. |

I lurve Steve Hamaker's colors. Especially with Jeff Smiths pencils and ink art.
You should read the comic book Bone.

Every single component of the image you see is either photographed or rendered by me- it was a tedious process but the result has payed for the labour. Now, there's a huge concept behind this that I am going to write up in my evaluation. It has to do with disconnection from God and infatuation with man-made things, and makes comment on the manner of our relationship with the natural world. I can thank the readers of my blog for the development of my concept, for it took a profound turn when someone said the photo of me kind of looked like Adam from The Creation of Man, Michaelangelo's painting on the roof of the Sistine Chapel. The original file is huge, and I'm taking it to get commercially printed. I can't wait to see how it comes out! |
