Permanently? For what?

And on topic, I think whats-his-name from Iced Earth has a great voice. I had to get used to it, but I like it now. Especially in songs like Melancholy. He can have a 'beautiful', entrancing voice, or a menacing, aggressive one, like in Dante's Inferno.

Which also reminds me of Mikael Åkerfeldt, great vocalist.

Tool does fit the definition of progressive rock, I guesse, but they dont' sound like those other artists. It doesn't make sense to lump them together.
That is the definition of Prog, 'originality'. Of course they don't sound like anyone else.

I'm about tired of this, outlaw. Once again you have called me close-minded.
And no, you never said that we experience enlightenment when you speak. But what I said was hardly an exaggeration.

Ahem... The attitude I flaunt towards you? Please clarify, as I find I have presented myself at all times as diplomatic and gentlemanly.

I was referring to the absurdity of James LaBrie, not Steve Perry.
His voice is just so... '80s. He strikes me as one the more skilled hair-metal vocalists. His voice is much too delicate to match the obnoxious prog tendencies of the aggressive musical machine backing him.

Our criteria are obviously different. This would revert back to technics/aesthetics.

Remember, this is not a fact for everyone. Perhaps they grate on your nerves, but I enjoy them.
I freely admit that my views on Mercury are merely a matter of opinion.

I fail to see the narrow-mindedness in my statement. Journey is quite possibly the quintessential formulized rock band.

And what's all this rubbish about a "vomit graemlin?!!!!!"

I assume you're referring to technics vs. aesthetics, not drumming or singing ability, correct? (although this probably isn't the place for that either)

I'd rather not say considering it was pretty un-Christian and this is a Christian board, but it was uncalled for considering the circumstances. Fixxxer just didn't like me. He was really unfair.

Yeah. I can't stand Queen (mainly due to Mercury and his voice) and Journey just isn't my style really. No extreme dislike there. But if you like it that's great that you listen to it. I was just kidding with the "I'm sorry" comment.

I was talking about LaBrie too. Lots of people say his voice doesn't always match DT's music. I agreed at first but now it has begun to grow on me.

I guess so.

That hardly makes them crappy. They were good at what they did, writing classic rock songs.

A graemlin is small graphic representing an emotion. The vomit graemlin would be a smiley vomiting.

Technics vs Aesthetics.

Although, the discussion of the best drummer or singer should be moved to another thread or forum.

A thread on those two matters may stay in this forum, if it is discussing secular drummers and singers.

But then it becomes a matter of it being yet another "X vs. Y" thread (although not a poll).

Neil Peart vs Mike Portnoy vs Danny Carey.

Scott, I am more than willing to comply, but cannot the matter of Carey vs. Portnoy or Keenan vs. LaBrie be discussed in here?

Your call, bud.
