| So, has anyone seen the movies that "Dead by Dawn" is based on?
My friend (who is a VERY hardcore Showbread fan) did some internet research and worked hard to find copies of this trilogy of cheesey B-grade zombie movies.
Evil Dead
Evil Dead II
Army of Darkness
These are the excellent artwork of Sam Rami, the famous once-B-movie-director, and notoriously cheesey B-movie actor Bruce Cambell. Yes, Sam Rami does real movies now, like the "Spiderman" movies, but come on... who else would have added that cheesy hospital horror scene in Spiderman 2? Sam Rami is the hero of zombie lovers. And, if you bear any small love of Showbread, you know that they like nothing better than God, The short story "The Metamorphosis," Reptiles, and Zombies.
We watched these movies. The first one is an attempt at a real zombie movie, but the next two get progressively worse, obviously favoring outright cheesiness and bad purposefully bad scripting. As Showbread fans, you'll love seeing a group of zombified campers chanting "Dead by dawn! Dead by dawn!" or by the creepy zombie lady saying "Such pretty skin... give it to us!" in Evil Dead. You'll laugh as you realize what Showbread is talking about when they sing "my hand cut away..." in Evil Dead II. You'll wet your pants as you here Bruce Cambell deliver the last line in "Army of Darkness," famous in B-Movie actor classes and this particular showbread song.
Just as a caveat, these movies aren't for everyone. There's nudity, lots of fake blood and gore, and language.
So, does anyone else know what some of Showbread's songs are based off of? There's the other zombie song from AoR... There are a few refferences to "The Metamorphosis"... I read the Bell Jar, but the lyrics don't have a resemblance to the story... I like Showbread, but I'm not one of their huge fans... Maybe someone here could enlighten us all...
