One thing that my youth pastor always says is "if you are truly a disciple of God, then you will have people following you. Jesus never had to announce where he was going. The people just found out and followed." Or something to that effect. |
As president of my high school's christian club i found this the hardest thing. drawing people in was hard especially as the year went on even tho we had parties, guest speakers, worship etc. A couple of years ago was the worst. We were losing motivation when we looked out and saw no one wanting to come. Then a guest speaker came to just the officer's meeting and challenged us to reexamine our motives. Why were we on campus, what were the goals of the club? Were they to draw a crowd of people or to lead people to Jesus? Often times Jesus met with individuals one on one to discuss their needs. it's ok to want to reach out to a crowd but make sure the main goal is to reach out.
But you can't reachout if the club isn't fun so ideas that helped us draw a crowd=
1.involvement in school activites like a fair or fundraiser etc.
2.pizza parties! (if allowed at your school)- giving away free pizza and inviting members to bring friends and then having the gospel presented always worked for us
3. See you at the pole (syatp.org) get your club to wear bracelets and t shirts and stuff for the event and then at the event usually when people who may not be in the club come tell them about the swat team.
