Have Leboman Approve Your Guilty Pleasure

That's right....if you've got skeletons in your musical closet and you're tired of hiding them when your friends come over....this is the thread for you.

I will either approve or disapprove your musical guilty pleasures with the wisdom and grace that only a Geezer can afford.

Do you have a CD you're ashamed of? Are there songs you're afraid to sing along with out loud?

Come to me dear children and I will tell you whether you should be ashamed or not.

No trend-setting, ultra-hip music allowed.

The first guilty pleasure I shall officially approve is Debbie Gibson. She was cute, she wrote her own songs, and I own three of her CDs. What more proof do you need?

Rock on Debster.

The only one up there that could qualify as a guilty pleasure is Bette Midler and I'm not even sure she would. She's a fairly respected singer....unless you're talking about Wind Beneath My Wings. I want to hate that song but it was in my wedding so I have to give it my approval.

Frank and Dean are legends. They were also involved with the Mob and any negative comments would probably get my arm broken.

Alanis is okay. I don't really think she's a guilty pleasure unless you're a 50 year old man. THAT might be a little odd.

Listen to all of them and enjoy.

If you are 25-29 they are kind of lame.

If you are over 30 you might want to hide them behind your DC Talk CDs.

The exception is if you have kids. Kids make just about anything okay. That's how I justify my Backstreet Boys' Greatest Hits CD.

Jump away.

I do enjoy listening to 10,000 Maniacs loudly while parked in public places occasionally.

I've never heard of them so they can't be that bad. If they have any passing resemblance to The Beatles at all....consider them appoved.

Also....if Robbie Williams could've sung with them....they are approved as well.

10,000 Maniacs (in spite of the horrid name) were a great band. They were sensitive chick rock before Lilith Fair came along and screwed it all up. Listen without guilt.

I thought so, but I wanted to know. I should ask Skeeter.
