Factory Refurbished

Well I guess this could go for lots of stuff. But what do you guys think about Refurbished amps? Stay far away or are they fine? I guess this could go for other stuff too like effects and guitars(well ive seen like b-stock guitars etc.) So what do you guys think worth it to buy it or save and get the brand new?

I would think it would be fine. Refurbished means that it didn't pass initial quality control inspection and was sent back for refitting. It should be the exact same as a new product. I think about the only differences you'll find are in price and waranty.

The term "refurbished" is also mandated by consumer protection laws that say that an item may not be called "new" even if it has been returned for any reason, including that which has nothing to do with a problem. If a box has been opened, it cannot be sold as "new". Problems may be cosmetic only, but primarily, it is likely new and has passed inspection, but cannot be sold as "new". The term is used so that it can be sold at a higher price than a "used" item, which is another category. Like PianoMan said, it should be fine and is a better deal in most cases than buying "new".

Refurbished stuff is almost always a really good deal and warranties are in many cases the same as the brand new version of the product. My philosophy on refurbished is that I think it really ought to be *better* than the brand new stuff. If it's refurbished that means it's been sent back to the factory and tested inside and out for anything that could possibly be wrong. This is tons more thorough than the quick quality control inspection anything gets when it first leaves the factory.

although this is in the "amps and accessories" forum, i still like to ask:
what do you guys think about this Schecter C-1 Plus? at the moment it's still 150$ cheaper than instrumentpro.com (the cheapest online shop for this specific guitar).
nevertheless, i'm not sure about the factory "2" thing.
is it too risky? (i know there's always more or less risk)

Check out Musician's Friend's definition. They stand behind it just like new. As long as who you're buying it from stands behind the product I see no reason for not buying it, plus you'll save a few bucks.

i just read on a german forum (musiker-board.de, they even have a schecter society there) that the vendor is fast with shipping the instruments.
so i guess i will try to get this guitar for a reasonable price :)
