I'm curious what your new job is...I'd like to make that kind of money |

| I have wanted to try one of those, since it looks like a pretty nice amp.

| I've found H&K to cover alot of ground on the versatlility end, but sort of a compromise tonally all around. If BillS would like to interject about that, I'd love to get a real opinion on one.

| I like H & K. My supervisor owns a triamp and heres a few things to consider.
1) That is one expensive amp. Its really nice, and Id love one, but... can you afford it? Thats more important than the tone ultimately.
2) Have you spent much time on H & K gear? It has its own sound. I wouldn't call it British or American. As my coworker puts it, its a German distortion. Be prepared for it to sound a bit different than you are used to with Marshall, Peavey, Mesa, Fender, Vox, etc, cause it will. They seem to be built solid. I love their little preamps and such, as they add a lot of versatility.
I like the tone, but I have only played a little with one of their true power amps. (The Cream Machine sort of cheats.) Having used two of their preamps fairly extensively, I like the sound. Very versatile, but like a Mesa, you better spend some time on finding a tone cause everything is quite responsive and its very easy to dial in a crap tone.
I love the high gain sound of one and the medium gain sounds of it. Tonally, this guy and a peavey are not too similar in my opinion. i found the hughes and Kettner far better for lighter drive than the peaveys I have. (have I mentioned I got a new Peavey preamp not too long ago?)
Anyway, thats a beautiful amp. I started this post after I read you got the peavey, oh well.

(i'm not saying this is what you're thinking...just a quick forewarning to be careful) |

| i'm thinking about an AD30, but i'm not sure if it's gonna be loud enough... the AD140 imo is not worth paying for, because for that price i can get a TriAmp or a Rockerverb...

AC-30 are just 30 whats. If you are going to be micing it then 30 watts will be plenty. I have it and a Mesa Boogie 85 watts and i never get to open these beast up. |
