But they are leaking in from all over the world, not just Mexico/Cuba. And making a blanket statement regarding race, which includes, "they make great food..." is in fact racism. |

| Illegal aliens are a problem in New Orleans only in that they put all the other contractors out of business.
Seriously, these immigrant workers can do twice the work of the local contractors, easily, at a lower cost.
Now, you say "BUT WE'RE LOSING JOBS!!!", to which I say "WHICH WE WEREN'T DOING WELL!!!"

And I did worse work than my coworkers (I couldn't bevel an edge on 8" ABS to save my life). |

| I vote somebody either moves this to Current Events or closes it. This is a touchy subject that probably shouldn't be approached with normal CPF-style sarcasm & erroneous claims.
That being said, closing borders is NOT the way to solve economic problems. I think part of the problem with the healthcare business is that government funded healthcare should require legitimate level of need/urgency. Taxes should not cover things like single mothers taking kids to the doctor for common colds (which can't be treated!) or old men getting a heart exam to see if they can handle taking viagra.
And if we had a sales tax based system like many european countries, the lack of income tax for illegals wouldn't be a problem. People moving to our country is not the problem. Spending billions on border security is a waste. And certainly doesn't move us in the direction of harmony with the rest of the world. The concept of forbiding companies to hire people who will work for less simply because of nationality sure isn't very capitalist. And stupid considering the fact that every american was an immigrant 200 years ago.

I would have posted in Current Events if I had wanted to.
