Forever - Chris Tomlin (G) | Is there a recorded version of that How Great is Our God/How Great Thou Art medley somewhere that I can listen to?
We do both of these songs in our church, but not together. I'd like to hear how that works. Do you do all the verses for How Great Thou Art?
Thanks! |

| The only one I can think of is at the end of How Great Is Our God on the Passion CD called "How Great Is Our God". At the end of singing How Great Is Our God, Chris Tomlin sings out "Then sings my soul..." acapella. It's really good.

And I think that recording was supposed to be available on iTunes. Might be worth checking out. |

| Thanks guys.
I've located and downloaded the Passion Band Live version where he comes out of it straight into "Then sings my soul..." I absolutely love it and will be implementing that immediately. How Great is Our God is our current most requested song and this will help add to it's appeal with even the older hymn oriented folks. I may even drop the whole first verse of How Great Thou Art in there. Nice! |

Thanks! | I have listened to the one that psalm63adam mentioned off the Passion CD. There is another where he also throws in the chorus for How Great Thou Art on his Live from Austin Music Hall CD. He goes right from the chorus of How Great Is Our God into the chorus of How Great Thou Art and ends back with How Great Is Our God.
I'm using the similar transition from chorus to chorus but after we finish singing the chorus of How Great Thou Art, we're doing a couple of verses of the hymn as well and just ending it there. We are starting off softly and building up to the hymn. Sometimes I like to "spice up" hymns a little bit and get the whole band involved (often everyone just stops playing and we sing them with that traditional organ/piano driven accompaniment). When we do the switchover to How Great Thou Art, we will sing the chorus at the same tempo and style as How Great Is Our God. But when we get to the verses we will be changing it up the feel while maintaining the same tempo. The drummer will switch to playing on the toms, the lead will play this palm-muted riff with some delay and I will be palm-mute strumming to give it a more rhythmic edge. It's kinda hard to explain but I think it sounds okay. The other reason for "spicing it up" is so we can keep building up to the final song, Forever.

| Reading this thread inspired me this week. We're closing off a sermon series on Hebrews, and the theme has been "the supremacy of Christ," so a few songs on the greatness of God would fit in great.
Call To Worship: Can't Nobody Do Me Like Jesus (D)
Welcome from Pastor
How Great Is Our God (G)
How Great Thou Art (G -> Bb)
I may repeat the final chorus of How Great Thou Art and modulate it up to Bb, to prepare for:
Collection of Offerings: Grace Be With You All (Card; Bb)
Thank You For The Cross (AKA Once Again, Eb)
Thank You For Saving Me (Delirious, Eb)
Sermon: Hebrews 13:7-end, I think
Invitation: Come, Ye Sinners (Bb)
Benediction
Wouldya look at that... I have four different keys, and two on the sharp side, two on the flat side.
